I'm sorry i dont believe in winning or losing.I simply believe in LIVING which seems to have been sadly forgotten.
One day when I am old and gray and have a lot of time on my hands, I would really like to sit down and understand people who are so indignant about capital punishment. Do they honestly feel that it is not right to hang a rapist when he probably deserves to be lynched? Or is it just that some people spend a lifetime being "different" by playing the devil's advocate....so much so that they lose track of the line between being rational and being ridiculous. I don't know what you truly believe Rip, 'coz you sound like an intelligent person. But here is what I think....if there were no capital punishment for criminals and my daughter were raped, I would go out, get a gun and kill that person. And so would many other people who do not care about being "different"! Our social system needs some way to stop people from seeking vigilante justice. Capital Punishment is not an effective instrument to reduce crimes. It is more a means to stop law abiding citizens from seeking retribution and turning the society into a battle ground.
Also, what alternative do you suggest? Counselling and psychotherapy? Spending taxpayers' money on people who just chose to do what the heck they wanted???? I say good riddance to bad rubbish and I say all you bleeding hearts should go think about what you are really asking for.

RIP - I will answer your question on when did shuv cooked last (don't know whether its already answered - i don't have too much patience to read such long comments). shuv does not eat much so when he is alone he don't need to cook (snacks along with his drinks are enough for him). but when his friends are there staying with him (I often visit delhi and stay with him) - he cooks for them even if he is fully drunk.
