Nice post.bengalis as i've understood are a fascinating blend of extremes:
to site some..
they r the most analytical (capable of analysing practically anything from 'spielberg to botticelli' and still manage to be the most emotional ( all at the same time.
you might still find him crying at the AB's dying scene in Sholay)
the most gourmand(will simply melt by the sheer mention of 'eelish maacher paturi'or 'chingri maacher malaikari') and.. the most prone to dysentry (trade mark of a true 'royal'bengali)
they remain the most travel freaks and the most hypochondriac of all the communities in india
(everyone is either a doctor or a patient..sometimes both and they posess the emmence talent of remembering the names of any doctor or their prescribed medicines better than any 'non-bengali' med.representative anywhere in india!)
they r the most poetic and.. the most political at the same time! (simply have no idea how they achieve this!!)(an equal enthusiasm and exitement can be sited when a bong is discussing pablo neruda,ghatak,jibonanondo,ganesh pyne and....hold your breath..MAMTA Bannerjee!!!!
bongs r also the most rebellious and the most cowardice(most of the time)(believes in solving almost anything by the simple process of.. 'debating'..unless severely insticated.)and r a great protagonist of 'gandhigiri'much before munna bhai hit the market.
extremely intellectual and are extremely passionate about football!.... (intellectuals and football usually dont go together u know..this has also surprised me for long years now)
kolkata bongs thrive as lowest income community with the highest spending affinity(its amazing how much a bengali will spend on food, books and travelling!)and how much less his savings can be..
and finally,people with the most conservative lifestyles and the most progressive outlook.
(specially bong females! u must hv noticed how punjabi guys fall helplessly for bong babes...i dont blame them)
its true things r changing a bit now with globalisation and stuff...but still.. way to go..bongs will be bongs and happy to be the same.
